Praying With Our Kids

When was the last time you took a prayer inventory? How is your prayer life and how is the prayer life of your children? Here are some ways to nurture prayer individually and for your family.

family praying

Talk about God in a positive way.

Start simple and take advantage of prayerful moments.

Use the five senses. Light a candle, open a Bible, listen to soft music, bless each other using a nice smelling oil.

Make prayer part of the daily routine. Mealtime and bedtime seem to be the best times for families to pray together.  Short prayers can also be said driving in the car, walking to the bus, and getting out of bed.

Give them time. Although you want to teach your children attitudes and postures proper to prayer, it is also important to remember that they are still learning. Make prayer a good experience. It is not time to discipline them to "kneel up straight."

group prayer

Prayer is great family time. Take advantage of these special                                                  opportunities.
